Winter Excursion with dog in Vienna
Cobenzl: A true paradise for humans and animals. From Cobenzl you start towards Neuwaldegg and return via Hermannskogel. This circular route takes about 3 hours and you have a fantastic view of winterly vienna.
Wienerberg: If 3 hours and more are possibly too long and arduous for you, a walk around the Wienerberg is recommended. Depending on your walking speed and leisure time, you can complete the walk in a maximum of one hour. A highlight is the lake in the middle, which freezes over especially in the cold months.
Donau-Auen national park: A spectacular nature experience awaits you here. They come from all over europe and spend their winter months in the Donau-Auen. The numerous water birds, like ducks, geese, seagulls etc. are meant. Also the king of the danube, the majestic sea eagle, likes to spend the winter here, because the river usually remains ice-free and therefore serves as a food source for our feathered guests also in winter.
Prater: In the warm months a green paradise, in the winter a magical place. Of course, this does not mean the amusement park, but the huge area around it. Especially the city hiking trail 9 is a nice walk. From Praterstern away, along the Prater Hauptallee to Freudenau and back, this 13 kilometre long hiking trail stretches.
Wiener Wasserweg: This circular route along the old danube stretches over 13 kilometres and takes about 3-4 hours. An absolute highlight for nature lovers.
Hochramalm: A true dream for all nature lovers. Especially in the cold months you have the feeling that you landed here in a winter fairy tale.
Sophienalpe: A visit to the Mostalm in the 14th district of vienna is also highly recommended for all friends of winter hiking and their four-legged companions.
