The Animal Welfare Association for Tyrol has been the leading animal welfare organization in the province of Tyrol since the end of the 19th century. With the support of more than 20,000 members, we operate 4 animal shelters in Innsbruck, Wörgl, Reutte and Schwaz.
We are convinced that animals have a right to a life that is as species-appropriate as possible. Every year we take care of about 3500 escaped, found or abandoned animals. Around 500 animals are continuously cared for in our homes.
Our mission statement
The Animal Welfare Association for Tyrol 1881 currently has more than 20,000 members and an annual budget of around 1.5 million euros. Since our founding more than 135 years ago, we have dedicated ourselves to respecting animals as creatures, preventing animal suffering and educating young people to love animals.
Animals can be surrendered here, but of course they can also be adopted. We are happy to help with the choice of a suitable pet.
